Both Model E and Model F use the same specifications but different body structures   Basically Model E is a multipurpose vehicle and Model F is a family car. Our team decided just to concentrate on the fuel efficiency, design and structure of family car, Model F. We came up with a few ways to lower fuel consumptions. the first is an automated air vent to cool the radiator. It will open when the radiator needs some cooling and close when the radiator is cool enough. The second is  the body structure of the car. It is designed as a sport car for a more aerodynamic ride. Both this specifications are made to decrease air resistance and to produce a more aerodynamic shape. From what we found out, this shape can reduce lost of energy due to air resistance.

Other than that, we also came up with another idea to decrease energy waste. Instead of a big filament bulb which most energy is wasted in the form of heat, our car will use LED bulbs for its rear and front light, a simple but effective way to save energy. Now to the crown jewel of cars, the engine, our team decided on a unique energy source not often seen in the automotive industry, magnetic energy.

Our team members also decided that the Model F would be more reliable if it had another source of energy as a backup. We settled that our model should have solar energy as its alternative source of energy. We planned to fix a PVL (photovoltaic laminates) solar panel on  the roof of our car. Besides that, our team member decided to add another solution to make our Model F more efficient, which is regenerating brake energy. Reliable information from the Internet indicated that ample of energy are lost when we brake. We are sure that this innovation will be a turning point for fuel efficiency in the near future.

 Early Innovative Solutions

There are 4 earlier innovative plans for this problem. Model A is a hybrid car with three power sources which is internal combustion engine, solar and electric. But there is 2 major problems. Firstly, the engine plan was not sufficient enough. Secondly, the design of the car was not suitable for the ideas to install three sources of power supply. Model B is a special design of solar car. At one side it has an upwardly sliding and double- layered. The external door was a solar door while the internal door was an ordinary door. But our team felt that the car will not have a balance weight and not practical for family use because the solar power generated is not even sufficient  to carry one passenger. Model C is powered by the rechargeable battery and the batteries  are easily interchange with a charged one. Model D was a hybrid car too, it has a solar panel which  converts solar energy  to electrical energy, and the most interesting part was a mini-hydro-electric power station. This plan  was also rejected because the mini-hydro-electric power station is actually reducing the energy level. After all the discussion of  the 4 plans saw that we need to do a lots of research and study on how car engine work and energy can be conserved. After spending more time on researching and reading , our team member- Tharanitharan came out with Model E and Model F (our final solution)...

Existing solutions

There is already a few existing solutions for this problem such as the hybrid car, electric car, and the hugely popular- solar car. All this car are designed for fuel economy. All these cars are designed using an alternative energy as a replacement for fossil fuel. The hybrid car powers two power sources depending on the speed being traveled. This mean that the fuel consumption of the car can be reduced. If the hybrid car uses electric as a second source of energy they may take a lot of time to recharge. If the hybrid car uses solar as its the another source, it may lack sufficient energy to carry heavy load. So that mean the hybrid car is not reliable. Another existing solution is the solar car. Solar car means a car which uses the solar energy from the sun. th e solar energy obtained by the sun converted into electric energy. Unfortunately the solar car is extremely expensive due to the PV cells. The lifetime of the cells is also short. Since two of the solutions are not reliable, we turn around to electric car. Electric car are considered as one of the most useful creation in the 21st century. But the electric car also have some disadvantages, that is our country- Malaysia produces electric by burning the coal and fuel. So using electric cars in Malaysia only changes the emissions form the tail pipe to the power plant.

REAL WORLD PROBLEM
The usage of fuel can effect the environment such as air pollution, sound pollution and many many more........ but the main problem in transportation is low natural fuel. The recent fuel price hike of 40.6% to RM2.70 per liter of petrol has a major negative impact on the economy of Malaysia. In order not to regret in the future to come after the natural fuels have finished, we need to find a better way to solve the problems such as producing low cost, eco-friendly and long lasting source of energy. Lastly, we need other source of energy to depend to when there is shortage if fuel in the future. That's all i wan to say!!!!!!!!!!!
